Who we are
As a graduate scheme, we believe the Police Now programme offers an attractive proposition through training participants to become fully warranted police officers with high responsibility levels from early on in the programme. Police officers on our existing neighbourhood programme have gained responsibility for areas homing as many as 20,000 people and our impact report highlights the encouraging results we are achieving through the programme.
Police Now is an independent social enterprise. Our National Graduate Leadership Programme trains and develops graduates with strong leadership skills to become inspirational police officers and exceptional crime fighters. It is our mission to transform communities, and we believe that given the highest levels of support, outstanding police officers can positively help change lives. We are also fully committed to the belief that there should be no compromise or delay in boosting the numbers of those remarkable individuals entering policing.
Following the success of the Police Now National Leadership Programme, we are now recruiting for police detectives across the nation to complement the neighbourhood graduate scheme, in helping to keep the public safe. The detective programme has newly launched in 2019 and offers an exciting opportunity for graduates with two years’ experience, who want to make a change in people’s lives and improve society with innovative ideas that deliver high-impact results.
What we do
The Police Now National Detective Programme has been introduced in response to a report published by the National Police Chief Councils which highlighted a large shortage in investigative capacity.
To support the Police Service in tackling this shortage, Police Now select and recruit highly-competent graduates who play an important role in driving our mission to help support the nation’s police in their efforts to increase the existing skilled workforce.
Through our award winning recruitment process and innovative training programme, we supply our partner forces with the investigative and innovative detectives they need to drive results.
80% of Police Now participants to date have remained in policing, with many pursuing lateral development roles and promotion opportunities. Further details of the impact Police Now participants have achieved so far on this journey are available to read in the latest Impact Report.
Our role in the community
As leaders in the local community, Police Now participants:
- Work to fight crime and increase public confidence in policing within their local community
- Build strong trusted relationships between the police and public through sustained work with the community
- Work with the community to bring about longer-term changes that broaden life chances and increase the quality of life for all
