POLICE DETECTIVE JOBS IN WARWICKSHIRE
You can apply to become a Warwickshire Police detective through Police Now’s National Detective Programme.
We’re looking for outstanding graduates with at least two years’ work experience to fill detective vacancies within the Warwickshire force, which serves the areas of North Warwickshire and South Warwickshire. If you graduated over two years ago from universities including the University of Warwick and Coventry University and you’re looking for a career in the region, you can apply for detective vacancies with Warwickshire Police through the Police Now National Detective Programme.
You could be working with a population of over half a million people across the Warwickshire region, serving diverse communities in rural areas and populated towns including Rugby, Nuneaton, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Stratford and Warwick.
The detective training programme lasts for two years, starting with a 12 week Detective Academy in September 2019. You’ll continue field training alongside qualified officers and once you successfully finish the programme and your two year probation period (which is standard for all newly joining constables to the police) you will be a Detective Constable (rather than a Trainee Detective Constable).

Can I apply?
To be eligible for the detective programme, you must:
- have achieved a 1st – 2:2 at undergraduate degree level or non-UK equivalent and a minimum of 2 years’ post graduation work experience
- be between the ages of 20-57 on application
- have lived in the UK for the last three years
- have indefinite leave to remain and work in the UK
- have received a GCSE grade C or above in English language and be fluent in the written and spoken word
- hold a valid UK Driving Licence
- not be looking to transfer between police forces or return to policing
- not have already applied to our 2019 National Graduate Leadership Programme
SALARY & BENEFITS
Joining the police offers many career benefits. With an average starting salary of £23,586, the basic Detective Constable salary rises to £39,150 plus allowances in line with Home Office guidelines.
A police detective career comes with 22 days paid annual holiday, plus public holidays, rising to 30 days with length of service. The role also includes at least two rest days each week, as well as maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
