POLICE DETECTIVE JOBS IN WEST MERCIA

Due to a high volume of applications, we have closed applications for the Police Now National Detective Programme with West Mercia Police.  Please visit the applications website to register your interest for future opportunities to join us and change the story.

The West Mercia force operates their headquarters from Hindlip, which is just on the edge of Worcester itself.

Serving a population of around 1.2 million people across the region, West Mercia Police is responsible for rural areas as well as the populated towns of Shrewsbury, Telford, Kidderminster and Hereford.

The detective training programme lasts for two years, starting with a 12 week Detective Academy in September 2019. You’ll continue field training alongside qualified officers and once you successfully finish the programme and your two year probation period (which is standard for all newly joining constables to the police) you will be a Detective Constable (rather than a Trainee Detective Constable).

To join the programme, you must have a degree and at least two years’ post-graduation work experience, so if you graduated over two years ago from the University of Worcester, Harper Adams University or the University of Wolverhampton and you’re seeking a new career in the area, why not apply for one of Police Now’s detective vacancies with West Mercia Police.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Graduates with at least two years work experience may apply.

WHAT DOES A DETECTIVE DO?
